Mrs Field's Chocolate Chip Cookies - Thermomix Easy

Yes, Mrs Field's cookies!

The secret ingredient to make them oh-so-Mrs-Field-like is the ground oatmeal.  And, your Thermomix is just the thing you need!

My five year old and I made this batch this afternoon.

Ingredients
110g rolled oats
200g chocolate (broken into pieces)
75g raw sugar
75g brown sugar
80g butter
160g plain flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarb

Method
Place oats into the TM bowl and mill 10 secs on Speed 9 - set aside
Place chocolate into the bowl and chop 3 secs on Speed 6 - add to oats
Place raw sugar into the bowl and mill for 10 secs on Speed  9
Add brown sugar, butter and egg and mix for 10 secs on Speed 5
Add remaining ingredients and mix for 5 secs on Speed 5
Turn the speed dial to Closed Lid position and knead for 1 min on Interval Speed

At this stage I place the dough back into the bowl you have used to set aside the oats and chocolate, and pass it to the kids to roll into small balls and then place on a baking tray.  I usually give their work the 'once over', rearranging the balls evenly and flattening them out with a fork or my fingers.

Place in the a moderate oven for 10-15 minutes or until brown.
If you want to make them yourselves, a quicker way is to roll the mixture into a log (or two), wrap in glad wrap and refrigerate for 1/2 hour. Then slice it and place on the baking tray.  I often make a double batch of the mixture and then freeze one lot in these logs (pre-sliced and wrapped). Simply remove from the freezer and defrost until they can be separated and place in the oven. Perfect if we have run out of homemade lunchbox goodies.

Also, we made our batch with Nuttelex so that they were dairy free. As a result, they didn't brown quite as well as they do if you use butter.
